Description 3Com multispeed ISDN Digital Subscriber Line (IDSL) modems deliver dedicated digital access to remote userseven when they're connected to a central office over a digital loop carrier (DLC) system or U loop ISDN repeater. 3Com multispeed IDSL customer-premise equipment delivers dedicated always-on connectivity. It provides an ideal link for remote offices and teleworkers to private enterprise networks and the Internet. All-digital always-available networking eliminates dialling and provides predictable telecommunications costs. With IDSL and ordinary copper telephone wires, the 3Com IDSL modem provides dedicated, full-duplex throughput at speeds up to 144 Kbps. By using IDSL, small offices, branch offices, and teleworkers improve productivity while maintaining affordable telecommunication costs. The multispeed DSL feature allows service providers to offer the right amount of bandwidth at the right price plus flexibility to alter DSL service speeds as customers' needs change. Users can initially configure their service at 64 or 128 Kbps. And as bandwidth needs grow, service providers can remotely increase line speeds up to 144 Kbps. The 3Com IDSL modem uses industry-standard 2B1Q line coding and can transparently pass through telco DLC systems. IDSL also works with standard U loop ISDN repeaters to extend the range to approximately 11 km from the central office.
