US Robotics Internet Call Cable, DSL & Wireless Modems Review

US Robotics Internet Call

Description
The U.S. Robotics Internet Call Modem adds sophisticated online call management and economical Internet voice call capabilities to a powerful, easy-to-use internal faxmodem. You're in control of your time online. When an incoming call arrives, a pop-up window tells you - you decide whether to end your Internet connection and take the call, or ignore it and stay online. You can make live, real-time, full-duplex phone calls while you stay online, with Net2Phone Internet voice call software. It's just like making a traditional long distance call, but at a lower cost - calls to anywhere in the U.S. and Canada are free! With a telephone connected to your modem, you can call any phone in the world over the Internet. You can also use your modem's Internet connection to send faxes, call another PC, send voice e-mail, or enjoy live voice chat. And because the advanced voice call functionality is built into the modem, you can speak and listen through your telephone instead of your computer speakers, for higher sound quality. Plus, advanced line probing technology finds the "potholes" in your V.90 connection. It tells your service provider's equipment how to avoid the conditions that cause slowdowns and dropped calls. So the latest weather maps, live audio broadcasts, even streaming video come to you at the highest speed possible on your line. Even first-time modem users will find the 56K Internet Call Modem simple to install. All the necessary modem software loads itself from the multimedia installation assistant (on the installation CD). A live action video demonstration then shows each step of the hardware installation procedure.
