Description Providing customers with a flexible, high-performance switching solution, Cabletron's SmartSwitch 2000 series of modular workgroup switches offers a fully optional configuration consisting of two High-Speed Interface Module (HSIM) slots and two Fast Ethernet Port Interface Module (FEPIM) slots for high-speed LAN-to-LAN or LAN-to-WAN translational switching services. An economical, one-box solution ideal for Internet service providers, these devices can be configured to provide ATM, FDDI, WAN and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity through its two HSIM slots, and Fast Ethernet and Fast Ethernet over SONET connectivity through its two FEPIM slots. Flexibility in media and technology provides network managers with the ability to customize individual configurations with as little effort and cost as possible, and without added complexity. Dual load-sharing power supplies are included. DC power, a requirement in many central offices, is also available. The SmartSwitch 2000s provide a simple and cost-effective method for customers to bring new and developing technologies into the existing network infrastructure while preserving their initial investment. The SmartSwitch 2000 offers support for all nine levels of RMON on each interface (where applicable by technology). Embedded RMON provides in-depth management for detailed traffic reporting and determining network utilization trends.
