Description The SmartSwitch 2500 family is Enterasys' powerful, scalable solution to backbone and workgroup ATM switching. The core switching fabric of the SmartSwitch 2500 starts with a 2.5 Gbps ASIC-based shared-memory architecture that enhances many of the features found within both the workgroup and backbone solutions. Intelligent networking software available on the SmartSwitch 2500 includes advanced Call Administration Control (CAC), standards-based congestion management, flow control, and built-in LANE and IP-ATM servers. SmartSwitch 2500 Backbone is designed for LAN backbone networks, this model integrates high buffer capacity, a new 150 MHz dual-processor FastCast CPU, and redundant power supplies into a truly uncompromising ATM switch. All SmartSwitch 2500 Backbone switches can be flexibly configured with up to four I/O modules.
