Capable of being configured to concurrently support both ATM and frame-based technologies in a single chassis, the SmartSwitch 9500 is a highly flexible system that can provide service providers with a single-platform solution for rapid network deployments, simplifying network design and operational maintenance. A fully loaded 14-slot SmartSwitch 9500 can support over 224 ATM ports, while the scaled-down 6-slot module accommodates over 96 ATM ports. By allowing service providers to combine high port density with multi-interface support, the SmartSwitch 9500 dramatically lowers the initial cost of high-speed service deployment by reduc-ing both capital investment and operational overhead.
