This architecture allows you to mix and match front-end card types. The CoreBuilder 5000 EtherFlex Module supports the ''mix and match'' capability with 5 types of field-installable I/O cards. By combining several I/O cards, you can create customized mixed-media solutions to meet your individual needs. The 3Com EtherFlex Module is per-port switchable to all 8 Ethernet backplane segments, supports up to 8 isolated networks and security through the 3Com CoreBuilder 5000 Private Line Card (PLC) - up to two Cards, and allows you to connect up to 2 CoreBuilder 5000 Ethernet Network Monitor Cards for network management.
