Summary

Other than Windows ME, this unit has worked quite well for me. Mine came w/ a host of software for DV editing. MovieShaker is pretty neat for making short video's w/ a little bit of flair. Family seems to love those things! The integrated firewire worked great right from the get-go. Just plugged in the camcorder and it recognized it w/out a hitch. The RAM mine came w/ is a pain however. RIMM RAM. Very expensive and can only be upgraded to 512meg. If you plan on doing a lot of DV editing, I'd say pass this one by. But if you do low level stuff, this should do great. One word of caution... Installing Norton Internet Security has caused my system to be quite unstable, especially when editing/rendering video. Windows ME hasn't been as bad as most reviewers rate it for me, but in combo w/ Norton, it really has taken a turn for the worse. In order to edit video, I'll need to uninstall the software.

Strength

Bundled software is good Sony support has been good - lots of online help, and if you get in a pinch, the CS folks are actually helpful Great for video editing

Weakness

Windows ME Expensive, elusive RIMM RAM which can only be upgraded to 512meg
