I had read a review online that mentioned that the adapter would configure for COM ports 1 - 9. The IOGEAR website and documentation only mentions COM3. BUY.COM,... Strength Configures to COM1-256 using XP Home. Compatible with Philips Pronto remote on COM1 Weakness 2000/XP driver not blessed by Microsoft Bottom Line Two thumbs up for XP install. Cheap, fast, small serial port with LED. It works!
