When I bought it there were other, faster machines but I chose this one because it was moderately priced. I''''ve heard that Compaq machines only accept their own cards such as RAM but I don''''t care. From the way it seems I don''''t think my computer will be breaking down any time soon. One of my cats even sprayed it once and it didn''''t affect it at all.Strength Everything on it works.Weakness None.Overall Rating :

Written By Chris MFrom Grand Island NE USADate Created 08/27/2001Summary I purchased this computer 2 years ago to replace a Packard Bell that was getting outdated. When I brought it home, the computer began locking up. This is not inherent in all computers. When I called the company (long distance) to ask about the problem, they said it must be the software I was using. I explained that I had only been using the software they had packaged with the system. The customer service rep was at a loss for words.The CD drive began acting up, so I called the service dept again. I sent the computer in as they stated, to have the cause of the lock ups & the CD drive looked at. After 12 long distance phone calls & two weeks later, I received my computer back & the CD drive was still not working. The computer had sat on a shelf for a full week after they received it & had not been looked at until I called to inquire after it. The techs are so overloaded with repair work they cannot keep up with the orders. This tells you something of the nature of their machines. Most of the warranties are only for a year, so if the most of computers in for service are under a year old, what does this say about the product? Strength NONE!Weakness Customer Service & Tech SupportAfter 2 years, it still locks up. I was told by another service tech, that this is due to the system board not being able to handle the load of most of today's programs. Overall Rating :

I had thought about going with another company that is out there but thought that I should go with this one just because I have only heard good about the company and the products. I have had it now for 3 months and got if for a good price when it was on clearance. Just like any computer it has froze a few times but that is just how computers are. Well if you happen to see a 5000US for sale I would recommend it but since it was clearanced I dont think it is made any more. I think Compaq is a great company and will continue to buy from them.Strength Good in everythingWeakness Nothing
