Summary I've owned my Sony(PCV-RS420)VAIO almost 4 years now. On more than 1 occasion, I've found myself wishing that I had better researched this purchase. Dont get me wrong overall I'd say that its a pretty stable system, very capable of multitasking. But my regrets stem from its immediate lack of compatability, with thee preinstalled Windows XP Home edition OS. As many of thee advertised features&components failed to install from the 1st day of purchase(IE. TV,Video card,Ultra storage, ect.) siting compatability issues with XP. Not to mention the confusing absence of software, which is clearly referenced by its own welcome wagon software "Welcome to VAIO Life". Leaving this new-usr to wonder wether these features just werent included with the $2800 ticket price, had they failed to install due to another incompatibility, or were they just lost in some corner with that all elusive hidden partition.Strength DVD burning capabilities. Pretty descent video playback. Despite some compatability issues system is reliably stable. Thee ability to return the system to its factory beggining, whatever that is.Weakness This system lacks new-user freindlyness. Support and knowledgebase help and suggestions, are quite vague, leaving much to be desired. System installation and preinstalled hardware+drivers need some serious work.
