Product Description

The Targus Universal Notebook Docking Station with Video is the first USB based docking station with true video output capabilities. This One Touch interface allows users to quickly and easily connect to an external monitor, keyboard, Ethernet, mouse, printer, speakers or other devices in a manner of seconds. This product is also the first docking station to allow users to connect through a single USB connection. The Universal Docking Station provides greater flexibility to commercial users and consumers because it is not notebook platform dependent. It provides a low cost alternative to traditional OEM docking stations and port replicators.

Summary

I agree with the other reviewers. The video capabilities are sluggish and the audio for my surround sound system didn't fit the bill for my new Dell Inspiron 9300. I guess it's not as universal as I originally thought. It too is going...

Strength

Plug and play

Weakness

Sluggish video, mirror setting requires lower resolution for monitor.

Summary

I'm not quite clear on how the previous user found the video even usable. I'm running a fast laptop (1.5ghz)and at even lower resolutions, there is unacceptably long delay and ghosting when moving dialog boxes. At 1280x1024 8 or 16 bit, forget it. The...

Strength

- Everything else is perfect...

Weakness

- VGA video is sluggish (1-3 frames per second when moving dialog boxes)

Summary

As an IT professional, the video quality is the worst I've seen on any docking station product. And the lack of a power button on the docking station itself requires you to OPEN the notebook to turn it on. A docking station should allow you to press a...

Strength

No pros for this product really. I'm sorely disapointed.

Weakness

Video quality is the worst I've seen. Lack of a power button.

Summary

Unfortunately this docking station simply does not perform. First of all, as a docking station, I could not download pictures from my digital camera or even use my printer through its usb ports. Targus stated that the docking station has two power...

Strength

Allows the use of a secondary monitor as a really expensive picture frame.

Weakness

Simply does not perform in any aspect.

Summary

I have been using the Targus ACP50 port replicator for two days now and the installation and setup is superb. No more clutter of wires going to my laptop (just the power cord and one USB cable, beautiful!). I was also able to get a higher resolution on...

Strength

No clutter, no more wear on laptop connector ports. Really makes your laptop "portable" again!

Weakness

Video is extremely sluggish, in my opinion not usable.
