Product Description

Create high-impact, professional documents and marketing materials with this surprisingly affordable, network-ready color laser printer. Perfectly priced for the home office, yet powerful enough and network-ready for small offices and workteams, this printer lets you produce business, marketing, and sales documents in-house, rather than outsourcing to a print shop. HP LaserJet print cartridges include advanced toner formulas that are designed together with HP-engineered fuser technology in the printer to provide a wide range of colors, sharp black text, and smooth gloss, whether printing with plain or HP specialty paper.

Summary

Owned this printer for a year and a half. From the beginning if you printed a label from a sheet of labels, those you didn't use during this print job turned increasingly gray. Now, every white page of paper comes out gray. And HP wants $79 to allow a...

Strength

Good color, size, and lack of noise.

Weakness

No support, no service, no good. Turns each page gray.

Summary

April 16, 2007 UPDATE: When the original toners (that came with the printer) were only 30% low, all the paper printed with a kind of "marbled" background. The manual indicated this is a sign the "toner is low," but 30% full is hardly low! Long story...

Strength

Inexpensive, easy to install, easy to use, beautiful results.

Weakness

HUUUUUUge, but can't see any other way to design it.

Bottom Line

Perfect as an inexpensive second, light-use, back-up printer. For the many reasons listed by the other posters, it shouldn't be considered as a sole or principal printer.

Summary

Even with the optional cartridge out override available from the front panel, this printer is not a heavy duty office type device. The reason has to do with the way printers are rated for number of print cycles per cartridge. All laser printers have...

Strength

Excellent print quality

Weakness

HP color lasers in the $500 to $700 range do not have these disadvantages.

Bottom Line

Home use only. Avoid for business use. Memory not expandable, cartridges expensive for page count obtained. End of life less than 2 years if used in office.

Weakness

Not many upgrades available, toner is a little pricey.
